Superb Starling. I needed new design for phone strap which is little present for friend. So first, It was just color testing for it. However I painted it all day. I don't know why.

Superb Starling by *pikaole is one of the most eye-catching pieces I've seen in a while. Superb colour scheme and terrific drawing style! (

The first thing which crosses my mind when I view this piece is that it is a really good example of how a subject can be stylized.
I tend to see a lot of younger artists create something and then dismiss anatomy mistakes or other shortcomings as "my style" and while I tend to view that as an excuse what I see here is actually a great example of what a stylized rendering should actually look like and it's easy to see why this was selected as a Daily Deviation.
The round shape of the starling with the contrasting colors puts the immediate focus on the bird and you keep the background sparse enough not to draw attention away from it but still full enough that it's not one of those empty wastelands you see so often as a background
The artwork you see on this site can really catch your eye. This one did at the bottom of the page.
A small puffball of energy, happiness, and utter adorable loveliness made me swell with glee.
I love birds of all shapes and sizes and knowing what they actually look like made seeing this little all the more delightful.
While the bird itself is the centerpiece of the art, the background adds to the uplifting air that the bird brings to the viewer.
Cheerful, uplifting, wonderful. Seeing this peaks my curiosity to learn more about birds, art, and the ways we express ourselves in this diverse and crazy world.

Excellent effort.
